Free open-air cinema at Rosengarten

The Weinbergspark in Mitte is one of the nicest places to enjoy the last sunshine of the day with a bottle of wine or a “Feierabendbier” (an essential german summer word to remember!). During the summer the Rosengarten e.V., who is taking care of the garden, is organizing a free open air cinema every tuesday night. They also host different events like yoga classes, concerts or literacy nights during the most enjoyable time of the year.

Enjoy local brewed beer in Wedding

Craft Beer is as much a part of Berlin as the famous currywurst. Every hip bar is usually offering a home brewed beer these days and the beergarden “Eschenbräu” in Wedding is selling local beer in the middle of the neighbourhood. You’ll find space for up to 200 people, so feel free to bringt some friends or make some new beer acquaintances while you enjoy the day under an old oak tree, it probably doesn’t get more german than that.

Bicycle tour to the Malchower Lake

Summer is bicycle time! A great route to see the city is the one that will lead you to the Malchower lake. You will pass by Hohenschönhausen, some carp ponds, the castle park until finally arriving in Lichtenberg where the cold and beautiful lake awaits you. There is more to Berlin than the hustle and bustle of the inner city life, so take the time to enjoy the charming nature. From Mitte it will take you approximately one hour and thirty minutes to get there.

Stand-up-paddeling on Berlins Canals

Berlin doesn’t have an ocean or an artifical wave in the city like the lucky surfing people in Munich have it, but you can still enjoy some surfing time on a stand up paddle board on some of Berlins many canals. There a different SUP clubs all over the city where you can find fellow stand up paddle friends. “Steh Paddler” and the “Stand Up Club” at the (also wonderful) Badeschiff, will help you to walk on water for the first time!

  • Steh Paddler | Contact for rental | 30€ for 4 hours Stand Up Club | Badeschiff | Saturday & Sunday: 10-00 am–08.00pm, when the weather is good Tuesday – Friday | starting at 12€ per hour

Vegan beer garden “Wilder Hase” (Wild Rabbit)

Berlin wouldn’t be Berlin if there wasn’t an obscure exceptional place for every subculture in the city. So here it is, the first vegan beer garden that offers you food and beer you can enjoy while feeling great about your lifestyle and environmental choices. We also assembled some other great beer places for you on this list.

Enjoy the view with a beer at Viktoriapark

Buy some turkish treats and beer (yes, summer is all about enjoying beer in different places) at Mehringdamm and head to Viktoriapark to check out the crazy Waterfall in the middle of the city. When you walk to the top you’ll have a superb view over Mitte and Kreuzberg with the old Tempelhof Airport in view. And if you’re the romantic kind of type prepare yourself for a stunning sunset that won’t need an instagram filter!

Yoga at Badeschiff

Usually, you go to Badeschiff to swim and/or party. During summer time, however, they also offer yoga classes twice a week. A great way to start your day!

8
Tretboot Day in Treptow

At the so called “Island of Youth” you can rent a Tretboot with some friends. Get some exercise while exploring the lake and finish the day off with a nice beer in the local island beer garden. The place where you can rent boats is called “Kanuliebe” (kayak love) and they have a big variety of boats from the 50’s and 70’s.

Picknic at Körnerpark

The Körnerpark in Neukölln doesn’t feel like the typical edgy Neukölln experience. It’s super neat, the grass is nicely trimmed and the roses bloom as if there is no tomorrow. Somehow this place feels more like Munich. Körnerpark is a great place if you’re parents pay you a visit or if you want to have a romantic picnic in the park. There is even a small café located inside Körnerpark where you can rent a picnic basket and during summer there are also concerts for free on sundays.

Dinner at Freischwimmer, party at IPSE

Berlin feels more like Amsterdam when you head to Flutgraben. Bridges, boats and love, welcome to the sunny side of life! The restaurant Freischwimmer is a floating restaurant on a boat at the riverside where you can enjoy a nice dinner in a super relaxed atmosphere. And if you’re ready to dance afterwards head to IPSE a new club with river access where you’ll find the hip Berlin party people at one of the typical open airs they host during the summer season. Ahoi!

Day trip to the Spreewald

At Spreewald it’s all about pickeled cucumbers and tradition! But we promise you there is more to this area than that! You can actually enjoy a super nice day renting a canoe and paddling around in on of the many lakes or canals of the Spreewald. A typical day at spreewald means beer, paddeling, enjoying some pickled cucumbers, jumping in the lake, drinking more beer and returning back to the city as a happier person. To get to the Spreewald take the train from Berlin mainstation to Lübben or Lübbenau and have some fun. You can find more day trip recommendations over here.

Dancing at Monbijoutheater

You’ve probably been to open-air festivals at  ://about blank or  Sisyphos already. But it does not always have to be all electronic beats for crazy dance moves. At Monbijoutheater for example, you can learn to dance mambo, tango or swing. Feels like Dirty Dancing!

Stop and listen at Warschauer Brücke

Honestly, we don’t have any idea, how the musicians at Warschauer Brücke manage not to playall at the same time. There really is someone playing, singing, standing 24/7. While during winter time, freezing temperatures make you forget the beauty of these little open-air concerts, you should enjoy these gigs even more during summer.

Rooftopping at Klunkerkranich

At the parking level of the shopping mall Neukölln Arcaden you can find not only a chill-out-café-bar called Klunkerkranich but also one of the best views over Berlin. You should definitely go there in case you are – by chance – one of these people in Berlin that are NOT blessed with their own gigantic roof terrace. You are not alone if you are one of them. Not alone at all.

Picnic at Preußenpark

Apparently, Thaiwiese in Preußenpark is one of the greatest places on earth to taste Thai food (ok, except for South-Asian markets maybe). Try it yourself and enjoy the tasty, tasty Thai food there.

Horse racing at Hoppegarten

If you like horses and if you like races, the race track Hoppegarten is the right place for you. Bet and win!

17
Concert Sundays at Bode-Museum

Every Sunday from September to June they have classical concerts at Clärchens Ballhaus, called “Sonntagskonzerte im Spiegelsaal”. During summer, indoor activities suck, even regarding concerts. That’s why they relocated the event outdoors to Bode-Museum. One of the best ways to end your weekends.

Strolling at Pfaueninsel

Summer is the best time to pay a visit to Pfaueninsel, a little island in the middle of the Havel. On the island you have real peacocks, water buffaloes and a beautiful small palace. If you’re tired of the noise in the city and you long for a more quiet place, a visit to Pfaueninsel will make you happy.

Drive-in cinema in Reinickendorf

If you own a car that you don’t really have a use for in public transport loving Berlin, you should plan to pay a visit to the drive-in cinema in Reinickendorf. Don’t forget to buy some popcorn and to make out on the backseat of your car.

Climb the Teufelsberg

Apart from the even taller mountains called Müggelberge, Teufelsberg is the tallest hill in the Berlin area. From there you not only have a nice view but you’ll also find a former American monitoring station.

Skinny dipping at Orankesee

If you enjoy showering naked (yes, that’s a joke), you should go skinny dipping at Orankesee. Even though they don’t officially celebrate showing off your bare skin there (no FKK-area), they tolerate naked bathing people.
